We’re asking water what she wants

Site assessment

Our team uses a variety of methods for assessing home sites, pasturelands, and rangelands for ecological health and watershed resilience. We collect information on soil composition, infiltration rates, plant species, erosion, wildlife, land use, and rainfall, and climate to listen for where nature is asking for our partnership in restoration.

Mapping

We use open-source GIS software to create topographic and base layer maps for use in land use planning and watershed restoration activities we will plan in collaboration with the members of the community over time. We collect GPS information in the field to create resource and cultural layers that are owned by the communities we are working with.

Prayer and Permission

We feel strongly that we should only work where we are invited. Getting permission from the land, water, wildlife, and Spirit is an important part of working in harmony with nature. Some information can only be gathered from Mother Earth with her her permission. We always humbly request permission through prayer and make offerings when working on the land.
